Social Networking and the web
Maybe it is my reserved nature that makes me think some people are frankly insane in what they want to put in the public domain, but
slagging your boss off, or talking about your latest drunken night out in such a public way can surly not lead to good things.
This is
especially true if you are looking for a new job, and it is now becoming part of the recruitment process for some companies to check
the net and see what they can find out about any potential employees. (This is where slagging your boss off becomes an exceptionally
silly thing to do)
I’m not saying that social networking on line is a bad thing, and in fact I think that companies could benefit from
thinking about how social networking online could be used to their advantage. It just has to be done in the right way and with consideration,
especially when using very new websites which are still themselves working out ‘best practice’
For the personal user, just a word from the sometimes wise, take care about what information your putting out there, and always think about
who might be able to access it. Enjoyed with care technology is a wonderful thing, but used carelessly it can be very damaging, personally
and professionally.
