Social Networking and the web

Now, if you have not heard about social networking then you must have been living in a cave somewhere in a remote part of the world, because quite frankly, it is the thing that everyone is talking about.

I have to admit, I have found myself spending far too long on applications such as facebook, tracking down long lost friends and marvelling at how much information people share online. Now this is not because I don’t have an appreciating for technology, working for a company that prides itself on our technical ability I think I would be looking at a P45 if that was where I was coming from, what I mean is the amount of information people are willing to share online.

Take facebook again as another example. You can join different networks which then allow anyone in that network to see all your details. (Unless you are cunning like me and put loads of security settings on your account to stop this). Now either people are not bothered by what people can see about them, or they do not appreciate at this moment in time the implications that it can have.
